Yazd\u0131\u011f\u0131 mektuplarda, t\u0131bba ve hastalara nas\u0131l adapte olmaya \u00e7al\u0131\u015ft\u0131\u011f\u0131 gibi konulara da de\u011findi. 1902 y\u0131l\u0131nda Kate Crowell ile evlendi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:22px\">20. y\u00fczy\u0131l\u0131n ba\u015flar\u0131nda n\u00f6ro\u015firurji alan\u0131n\u0131n \u00f6nde gelen isimlerinden biri olan Harvey Williams Cushing, o d\u00f6nemde alan\u0131n\u0131n en \u00f6nemli \u00f6\u011freticisi oldu. Cushing&#8217;in  etkisiyle beyin cerrahisinde yeni bak\u0131\u015f a\u00e7\u0131lar\u0131 ve disiplinler elde edildi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:22px\">Beyin cerrahisi ameliyatlar\u0131 s\u0131ras\u0131nda, kan bas\u0131nc\u0131n\u0131n ve olu\u015fabilecek kanaman\u0131n kontrol\u00fc, artm\u0131\u015f kafa i\u00e7i bas\u0131nc\u0131n\u0131n takibi, merkezi sinir sistemi lezyonlar\u0131n\u0131n do\u011fal seyri ve patolojisi gibi \u00f6nemli bir\u00e7ok konuda yeni tekniklerin olu\u015fumuna \u00f6nc\u00fcl\u00fck etti. Hassas b\u00f6lgelerdeki damarlar\u0131 korumak ve kanamay\u0131 \u00f6nlemek i\u00e7in <em><strong>\u201cG\u00fcm\u00fc\u015f Cushing K\u0131skac\u0131\u201d<\/strong><\/em>n\u0131 geli\u015ftirdi. \u0130ntrakraniyal t\u00fcm\u00f6rlerin tan\u0131 ve tedavisi konusunda uzmanla\u015ft\u0131. Bu yan\u0131t, nab\u0131z bas\u0131nc\u0131nda geni\u015fleme (artan sistolik, azalan diyastolik), bradikardi ve d\u00fczensiz solunum ile karakterizedir.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:22px\">Cushing&#8217;in yapt\u0131\u011f\u0131 di\u011fer \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalara da bakacak olursak k\u0131saca \u015f\u00f6yle listeleyebiliriz:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-black-color has-light-green-cyan-background-color has-text-color has-background\"><li>Hipofiz bezinin \u00f6n ve arka loblar\u0131n\u0131n ayr\u0131 i\u015flevleri oldu\u011funu kan\u0131tlad\u0131. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-black-color has-light-green-cyan-background-color has-text-color has-background\"><li>Beyin t\u00fcm\u00f6rleri tan\u0131s\u0131nda X \u0131\u015f\u0131nlar\u0131n\u0131 kulland\u0131. B\u00f6ylelikle kanama sorununu b\u00fcy\u00fck \u00f6l\u00e7\u00fcde \u00e7\u00f6zm\u00fc\u015f oldu.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:22px\">Harvey Williams, hipofiz adenomunu Cushing sendromu ile ili\u015fkilendiren ilk ki\u015fi oldu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\" style=\"border-color:#7bdcb5\"><blockquote><p>Cushing Sendromu b\u00f6brek \u00fcst\u00fc bezinin \u00e7e\u015fitli sebeplerden dolay\u0131 fazla kortizol \u00fcretmesi durumunda ortaya \u00e7\u0131kan bir durumdur. Bu fazla kortizol \u00fcretimi hipofiz bezinin b\u00f6brek \u00fcst\u00fc bezini uyaran adrenokortikotropik hormonun fazla \u00fcretiminden kaynakl\u0131 ise bu durum Cushing hastal\u0131\u011f\u0131 olarak isimlendirilir.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:22px\">Harvey Williams\u2019\u0131n \u00f6nerisiyle 1919 y\u0131l\u0131nda <em>\u201c<\/em><strong><em>N\u00f6rolojik Cerrahlar Derne\u011fi\u201d<\/em> <\/strong>kuruldu.
