Yunanca ethos (t\u00f6re, gelenek, al\u0131\u015fkanl\u0131k) s\u00f6zc\u00fc\u011f\u00fcnden t\u00fcretilmi\u015ftir. Belirli ahlak de\u011ferlerinden ya da ilkelerinden olu\u015fan sistemler veya kuramlar i\u00e7in de bu terim kullan\u0131l\u0131r. Birbiri ile \u00e7ok yak\u0131ndan ili\u015fkili olan \u201cetik\u201d ve \u201cahlak\u201d kavramlar\u0131 aras\u0131ndaki temel ayr\u0131m, etik teriminin, genel olarak ahlak\u0131 konu alan disiplini belirtmesidir. Bu anlamda etik, ahlak felsefesi ile e\u015f anlaml\u0131 kabul edilir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Etik ve Bilim<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bilimsel \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar, bilimin genel kurallar\u0131na uyman\u0131n yan\u0131\ns\u0131ra problemlerin \u00e7\u00f6z\u00fcm\u00fcne y\u00f6nelirken mutlak do\u011fru sonucu elde etme ve\nuygulamaya koymada \u201cetik\u201d olmak zorundad\u0131r. Bu \u00e7er\u00e7evede, bilim alan\u0131nda bilim\neti\u011fi veya bilim ahlak\u0131 kurallar\u0131 s\u00f6z konusudur. Etik temellere dayanmayan bir\nbilimsel \u00e7al\u0131\u015fma bilimin kurallar\u0131na tam olarak uysa bile elde edilen sonu\u00e7\nge\u00e7ersiz olacakt\u0131r.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\"><strong>N\u00f6roetik<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2018 y\u0131l\u0131n\u0131n Kas\u0131m ay\u0131nda\nbilim d\u00fcnyas\u0131 \u00c7inli bilim adam\u0131&nbsp;<strong>He\nJiankui<\/strong>\u2019nin verdi\u011fi bir haber ile adeta sars\u0131ld\u0131. Jiankui ve\nekibi CRISPR ad\u0131 verilen genetik d\u00fczenleme teknolojisiyle do\u011fumdan \u00f6nce&nbsp;<strong>ikiz bebeklerin genlerini<\/strong>&nbsp;d\u00fczenlendiklerini\niddia ediyorlard\u0131. Bu d\u00fczenleme ile ikiz bebekler HIV\u2019e kar\u015f\u0131&nbsp;<strong>do\u011fu\u015ftan ba\u011f\u0131\u015f\u0131kl\u0131k geli\u015ftirmi\u015f<\/strong>&nbsp;halde\ndo\u011facaklard\u0131. Jiankui\u2019nin yapm\u0131\u015f oldu\u011fu a\u00e7\u0131klama bir f\u0131rt\u0131na etkisi g\u00f6stererek\nd\u00fcnyan\u0131n d\u00f6rt bir yan\u0131ndan y\u00fckselen etik tart\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131n alevlenmesine neden\noldu. CRISPR bebekleri olarak adland\u0131r\u0131lan ikizler \u00fczerinde ger\u00e7ekle\u015ftirilen bu\n\u00e7al\u0131\u015fman\u0131n olu\u015fturdu\u011fu tart\u0131\u015fma ortam\u0131 Jiankui\u2019nin i\u015finden olmas\u0131na, \u00c7in\nH\u00fck\u00fcmetinin olay\u0131 soru\u015fturmas\u0131na baz\u0131 \u00fclkelerde&nbsp;<strong>gen d\u00fczenleme \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131yla ilgili\nk\u0131s\u0131tlamalara<\/strong>&nbsp;gidilmesi gerekti\u011fine dair s\u00f6ylemlerin\ndo\u011fmas\u0131na yol a\u00e7t\u0131. Oysa bu sansasyonel olay\u0131n g\u00f6z ard\u0131 edilen bir ba\u015fka boyutu\ndaha vard\u0131.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jiankui ve ekibi&nbsp;<strong>CRISPR<\/strong>&nbsp;tekni\u011fi\nile ikizleri HIV\u2019e ba\u011f\u0131\u015f\u0131kl\u0131 hale getirme \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmas\u0131n\u0131 embriyolardaki CCR5\ngenini&nbsp;<strong>silerek<\/strong>&nbsp;ger\u00e7ekle\u015ftirmi\u015flerdi.\nDaha \u00f6nceden yap\u0131lan ara\u015ft\u0131rmalar HIV\u2019nin insan v\u00fccuduna yerle\u015febilmek i\u00e7in\nCCR5 geninden faydaland\u0131\u011f\u0131 y\u00f6n\u00fcnde bulgular ortaya koymu\u015ftu. CCR5\u2019in ortadan\nkald\u0131r\u0131lmas\u0131 do\u011fal olarak HIV\u2019nin insan v\u00fccuduna girmesini zorla\u015ft\u0131racakt\u0131.\nAncak CCR5\u2019in silinmesi yaln\u0131zca HIV vir\u00fcs\u00fcne kar\u015f\u0131 do\u011fal bir diren\u00e7\nsa\u011flam\u0131yor, bunun yan\u0131 s\u0131ra<strong>&nbsp;bili\u015fsel\nbecerilerin de geli\u015fmesine<\/strong>&nbsp;olanak tan\u0131yordu. California\n\u00dcniversitesi, Los Angeles\u2019dan Alcino J. Silva ve ekibinin yapt\u0131\u011f\u0131 \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalarda\nCCR5 geni silinen farelerin&nbsp;<strong>daha\nzeki davran\u0131\u015flar<\/strong>&nbsp;sergiledi\u011fi, HIV hastalar\u0131 i\u00e7in\nkullan\u0131lan&nbsp;<strong>Maravirok<\/strong>&nbsp;adl\u0131\nbir ila\u00e7 ile CCR5 geni bloke edilen fel\u00e7li insanlarda ise&nbsp;<strong>bili\u015fsel kapasitenin artt\u0131\u011f\u0131<\/strong>&nbsp;ve\ndi\u011fer hastalara g\u00f6re&nbsp;<strong>daha\n\u00e7abuk<\/strong>&nbsp;iyile\u015ftikleri g\u00f6zlenmi\u015fti. Yani CCR5 geninin\nsilinmesi\/bloke edilmesi ayn\u0131 zamanda bili\u015fsel kapasiteyi de olumlu y\u00f6nde\netkileyebiliyordu. Dahas\u0131 bu karar\u0131n verilmesinde&nbsp;<strong>hangi y\u00f6ntem ve metotlar\u0131n<\/strong>&nbsp;kullan\u0131laca\u011f\u0131\nda belirsizdi. Schiavo davas\u0131 toplamda 14 kez temyize gidilmesi, defalarca\nd\u00fczenlenen kampanyalar ve siyasi tart\u0131\u015fmalar e\u015fli\u011finde beslenme t\u00fcp\u00fcn\u00fcn\n\u00e7\u0131kart\u0131lmas\u0131 ile birlikte 31 Mart 2005 tarihinde \u2013<strong>art\u0131k 41 ya\u015f\u0131nda olan<\/strong>\u2013\nSchiavo\u2019n\u0131n \u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fc ile son buldu. Bu vakan\u0131n tart\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131, benzer vakalar\nya\u015fand\u0131\u011f\u0131nda hala devam ettirilmekte ve verilen karar\u0131n her iki boyutu da\nbitmek bilmeyen tart\u0131\u015fmalar i\u00e7inde zaman zaman k\u00fcllendirilmektedir.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bir ki\u015finin bilincinin\nyerinde olup olmad\u0131\u011f\u0131yla ilgili ku\u015fkular\u0131n derinle\u015fmesinde son zamanlarda&nbsp;<strong>bili\u015fsel motor disosiasyonu (CMD)<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>hastalar\u0131<\/strong>&nbsp;\u00fczerinde\nyap\u0131lan ara\u015ft\u0131rmalar\u0131n da etkili oldu\u011fu s\u00f6ylenebilir. CMD\u2019nin tan\u0131mlanmas\u0131\nsinirbilimci&nbsp;<strong>Adrian\nOwen<\/strong>\u2019in bitkisel hayatta bulunan baz\u0131 hastalar\u0131n beyinlerinde\nyer alan&nbsp;<strong>ek motor\nalanlar\u0131nda<\/strong>&nbsp;(SMA, motor hareketlerin kontrol\u00fcnden sorumlu\noldu\u011fu d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fclen alan),&nbsp;<strong>fMRI<\/strong>&nbsp;(fonksiyonel\nmanyetik rezonans g\u00f6r\u00fcnt\u00fcleme) tekni\u011fiyle yap\u0131lan taramalarda n\u00f6ronal aktivite\ntespit etmesiyle ba\u015flad\u0131. Daha sonra yap\u0131lan deneylerde CMD hastalar\u0131n\u0131n\nbitkisel hayatta olmalar\u0131na ra\u011fmen sorulan sorulara yan\u0131t verebildikleri ve bu\nyan\u0131tlar\u0131n beyinde aktifle\u015fen b\u00f6lgelerin fMRI ile g\u00f6r\u00fcnt\u00fclenmesiyle&nbsp;<strong>ay\u0131rt edilebildi\u011fi<\/strong>&nbsp;ortaya\nkonuldu. Sonu\u00e7 olarak bu geli\u015fmeler bitkisel hayatta olup farkl\u0131 bilin\u00e7\nyap\u0131s\u0131na sahip hastalar\u0131n olup olmad\u0131\u011f\u0131yla ilgili yeni sorular\u0131n sorulmas\u0131n\u0131\nsa\u011flad\u0131. Dahas\u0131 sinirbilimciler g\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fczde dahi, salt g\u00f6r\u00fcnt\u00fcleme tekniklerinin\nbir insan\u0131n bilin\u00e7li olup olmad\u0131\u011f\u0131na karar verilmesi konusunda ne denli yeterli\noldu\u011fu konusuna&nbsp;<strong>\u015f\u00fcphe\nile yakla\u015fmaktalar<\/strong>. \u00c7\u00fcnk\u00fc, neticede kimse bilincin ne oldu\u011funa\ndair \u201chen\u00fcz\u201d net bir tan\u0131ma sahip de\u011fil.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do\u011fal olarak y\u0131llar i\u00e7inde\nsinirbilimde ya\u015fanan yeni geli\u015fmeler n\u00f6roetik tart\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131na da yenilerinin\neklenmesini sa\u011flad\u0131, belki de bunlardan en ilginci ge\u00e7ti\u011fimiz y\u0131llarda New\nMexico, ABD\u2019de ya\u015fand\u0131.&nbsp;<strong>Anthony\nBlas Yepez<\/strong>&nbsp;2012 y\u0131l\u0131nda 75 ya\u015f\u0131ndaki bir erke\u011fe sald\u0131r\u0131p\n\u00f6ld\u00fcrmekten dolay\u0131 tutukland\u0131. Yepez sonras\u0131nda verdi\u011fi ifade de&nbsp;<strong>alkoll\u00fc oldu\u011funu<\/strong>,\nsald\u0131r\u0131n\u0131n b\u00fcy\u00fck bir k\u0131sm\u0131n\u0131&nbsp;<strong>hat\u0131rlamad\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131<\/strong>,\nayr\u0131ca neden bu kadar \u015fiddet g\u00f6sterdi\u011fini bilmedi\u011fini s\u00f6yledi. Yepez birka\u00e7 ay\nsonra mahkemeye \u00e7\u0131kma haz\u0131rl\u0131\u011f\u0131 yaparken adli t\u0131p psikiyatristi&nbsp;<strong>William Bernet<\/strong>\u2019in\nverdi\u011fi bir konferansa kat\u0131ld\u0131. Psikiyatrist Bernet bu konferansta 2009 y\u0131l\u0131nda\nya\u015fanm\u0131\u015f bir davadan \u00f6rnekler verdi. Tennessee davas\u0131nda al\u0131nan \u00f6rnek karar Yepez i\u00e7in\nbir umut haline geldi ve kendisinde de MAO-A\u2019ya ba\u011fl\u0131, \u015fiddet d\u00fcrt\u00fcs\u00fcn\u00fcn\nkontrol edilememesine neden olan mutasyonun olup olmad\u0131\u011f\u0131na dair&nbsp;<strong>genetik test<\/strong>&nbsp;yapt\u0131rd\u0131.&nbsp;<strong>Sonu\u00e7 pozitifti<\/strong>.\nYepez\u2019de de MAO-A\u2019ya ba\u011fl\u0131 mutasyon mevcuttu. \u015eimdi geriye sadece \u015fiddet d\u00fcrt\u00fcs\u00fcn\u00fcn\nbilin\u00e7li bir davran\u0131\u015f olmad\u0131\u011f\u0131 y\u00f6n\u00fcnde savunma yapmak kal\u0131yordu. Yap\u0131lan\nsavunma neticesinde dava ba\u015f\u0131nda&nbsp;<strong>birinci\ndereceden<\/strong>&nbsp;adam \u00f6ld\u00fcrmek su\u00e7lanan Yepez,&nbsp;<strong>ikinci dereceden<\/strong>&nbsp;adam\n\u00f6ld\u00fcrmekten su\u00e7lu bulundu, 22 y\u0131l hapse \u00e7arpt\u0131r\u0131ld\u0131. Yepez davay\u0131 temyize\ng\u00f6t\u00fcrd\u00fc ve karar\u0131n yeniden verilmesini bekliyor.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ancak bu ve benzeri davalar yepyeni bir tart\u0131\u015fman\u0131n olu\u015fmas\u0131na neden oldu. Genetik ve sinirbilimden elde edilen veriler hukuki kararlar\u0131n verilmesinde ne d\u00fczeyde belirleyici olmal\u0131d\u0131r? \u00d6rne\u011fin Yepez\u2019in davas\u0131nda eldeki kan\u0131tlar genetik mutasyonun var oldu\u011funu g\u00f6stermesine ra\u011fmen, mutasyonun Yepez\u2019in davran\u0131\u015flar\u0131n\u0131\u00a0<strong>ne d\u00fczeyde etkiledi\u011fine<\/strong>\u00a0dair bir kan\u0131t vermemekteydi. Yani olay an\u0131nda Yepez\u2019in karar verme mekanizmalar\u0131n\u0131n ne \u00f6l\u00e7\u00fcde -do\u011fan\u0131n rastlant\u0131sal olarak se\u00e7ti\u011fi- genlere ba\u011fl\u0131 olarak \u00e7al\u0131\u015ft\u0131\u011f\u0131 tam anlam\u0131yla muammayd\u0131.
