Bu istemsiz aktivasyon sonucu ki\u015filer \u00e7evrelerindeki g\u00f6rsel, i\u015fitsel, kimyasal vs. uyar\u0131lar\u0131 birbirleriyle kar\u0131\u015ft\u0131rabilir ve \u00f6rne\u011fin m\u00fczik notalar\u0131n\u0131n her birini ayr\u0131 bir renk veya renklerin tonlar\u0131 \u015feklinde \u201cg\u00f6rebilirler\u201d (kromestezi). Burada \u00f6nemli olan nokta bu harflere ve say\u0131lara \u201catfedilen\u201d renkler ki\u015fiden ki\u015fiye de\u011fi\u015fse de bir ki\u015fi i\u00e7in hep ayn\u0131d\u0131r. Sinestezi bunun d\u0131\u015f\u0131nda duyular\u0131n \u00e7ok farkl\u0131 kombinasyonlar\u0131 \u015feklinde de ortaya \u00e7\u0131kabilir. \u00d6rne\u011fin say\u0131lar ki\u015filik karakterleri olarak alg\u0131lanabilir: 3 hep kibirlidir, 4 ne\u015feli, 6 sinirli vs. veya s\u00f6zc\u00fckler belli tat veya kokularda alg\u0131lanabilir ya da her rengin belli bir dokusu, sertli\u011fi, yumu\u015fakl\u0131\u011f\u0131 vard\u0131r. Farkl\u0131 duyu merkezleri aras\u0131nda ise, koku ve tat d\u0131\u015f\u0131nda, elektriksel bir ba\u011flant\u0131 yoktur. Sinesteziklerdeyse bu b\u00f6lgeler birbirleriyle etkile\u015fim halindedir. Bir ses uyaran\u0131 temporal lobdaki i\u015fitme merkezini aktive etti\u011fi gibi oksipital lobdaki g\u00f6rme merkezindeki n\u00f6ronlarda da de\u015farj yaratabilir. Normal bir beyinde engelleyici (inhibit\u00f6r) ve uyar\u0131c\u0131 (eksitat\u00f6r) n\u00f6rotransmitterler dengeli bir \u015fekilde sal\u0131n\u0131r bu y\u00fczden durduk yere \u015fekiller g\u00f6rmez, sesler duymay\u0131z. Epilepsi, \u015fizofreni gibi hastal\u0131klardaysa bu denge bozulmu\u015ftur. Sinestezide de anormal uyar\u0131c\u0131 n\u00f6ron de\u015farj\u0131 d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fclen mekanizmalardan bir tanesi. Epilepsi ve \u015fizofreni hastalar\u0131nda sinestezinin normal pop\u00fclasyona g\u00f6re s\u0131k g\u00f6r\u00fclmesi de bu g\u00f6r\u00fc\u015f\u00fc destekler niteliktedir. Bunun d\u0131\u015f\u0131nda herkesin do\u011fdu\u011funda sinestezik oldu\u011fu fakat sonradan bu yolaklar\u0131n geriledi\u011fi gibi bir g\u00f6r\u00fc\u015f de var ve bu g\u00f6r\u00fc\u015fe g\u00f6re harf, kelime, \u015fekil, renk, ses, g\u00fcnler, haftalar gibi kavramlar\u0131n sinestezinin s\u0131k g\u00f6r\u00fclen tiplerini ilgilendirmesinin sebebi bu kavramlar\u0131n neredeyse hepsinin bir bebe\u011fin ilk kar\u015f\u0131la\u015ft\u0131\u011f\u0131 kavramlar oldu\u011fudur. Bunun d\u0131\u015f\u0131nda ileri ya\u015flardaki sinestezi hastalar\u0131n\u0131n yabanc\u0131 dili h\u0131zl\u0131ca \u00f6\u011frenme gibi bebeklere has yeteneklere sahip olmalar\u0131 da bu g\u00f6r\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn bir kan\u0131t\u0131 say\u0131l\u0131yor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Peki sinestezi bir hastal\u0131k olarak tan\u0131mlanabilir mi? Sinestezi hastalar\u0131n\u0131n \u00e7o\u011fu belli bir ya\u015fa kadar bu durumun fark\u0131nda olmad\u0131klar\u0131n\u0131, \u00e7evrelerindeki insanlar\u0131n alg\u0131lar\u0131n\u0131n farkl\u0131 oldu\u011funu \u00f6\u011frenmeden \u00f6nce alg\u0131 d\u00fcnyalar\u0131n\u0131n gayet n\u00f6tr, s\u0131radan oldu\u011funu belirtmi\u015flerdir. Sonu\u00e7ta nas\u0131l \u201cnormal\u201d bir insan alg\u0131 d\u00fcnyas\u0131n\u0131 direkt ger\u00e7eklik olarak kabul ediyor ve bunu sorgulam\u0131yorsa, sinestezikler i\u00e7in de bu karma\u015f\u0131k alg\u0131lar ola\u011fan ve hatta olmas\u0131 gerekti\u011fi gibidir. \u00c7o\u011fu insan i\u00e7in bir sorun yaratmamas\u0131n\u0131n yan\u0131 s\u0131ra baz\u0131 insanlar i\u00e7in bu avantaj bile olabiliyor. Sinestezik ki\u015filer genelde \u00e7evreye g\u00f6re alg\u0131 d\u00fczeyleri y\u00fcksek, daha yarat\u0131c\u0131, tipine g\u00f6re de\u011fi\u015fmekle birlikte soyut, g\u00f6rsel veya analitik konularda yetenekli insanlard\u0131r. \u00d6rne\u011fin mek\u00e2nsal dizi sinestezisi olarak adland\u0131r\u0131lan, ki\u015filerin say\u0131 dizilerini \u00fc\u00e7 boyutlu ve farkl\u0131 konumlarda g\u00f6rd\u00fckleri sinestezi tipinde ki\u015filer matematik hesaplar\u0131n\u0131 h\u0131zl\u0131 bir \u015fekilde yapabiliyor veya \u00e7ok uzun bir say\u0131 dizisini kolayl\u0131kla hat\u0131rlayabiliyorlar. S\u00f6zc\u00fcklerin tat olarak alg\u0131land\u0131\u011f\u0131 tipte yabanc\u0131 dil \u00f6\u011frenmek \u00e7ok daha kolay olabiliyor. Yine de sinestezi \u00fczerine yap\u0131lan bir\u00e7ok \u00e7al\u0131\u015fma tedavi amac\u0131yla de\u011fil beynin \u00f6zellikle alg\u0131 i\u015flevlerini daha iyi anlamak amac\u0131yla yap\u0131l\u0131yor.
